We use a high-quality oil-based sealant called “Black Mac”. It is the highest grade sealant available and tends to last up to two times longer than other oil-based brands.
You should seal your driveway at least once every 2 years. This will keep the asphalt looking great and slow the aging process. The oil will dry up by 2 years and the asphalt will turn grey. This means it is not protecting the asphalt from gas or oil spills and weather damages.
Water based sealer is engineered to create a layer on top of your asphalt. Oil based sealer is engineered to absorb into the asphalt and strengthen it. Water based protects better from gas and oil spills on the driveway but does cause spider web cracks. Since it is just a layer on top of your asphalt it will flake off and often crack. This is why we avoid water based sealant and only use oil based. Oil based is refilling that missing oil in the asphalt. When your driveway turns grey it is because it is drying out of oil. To prevent cracks from forming we can add that needy oil with our sealer. This is the best way to prolong your driveways life.
After sealing your driveway we recommend staying off of it for at least 24 hours and if you can 48 hours. It is also recommended to hose down the driveway the next day to speed up the curing process. When getting an asphalt repair we recommend not parking on it for 3 days to let it cure fully.
The best reason to get your driveway sealed is to prevent cracks from forming and prolong the aging process of the asphalt. When you notice the driveway going grey and sand forming at the bottom of it, this is a sign your driveway is too dry and is starting to lose its chemical bond. Asphalt is made of gravel, sand and oil as a bonding agent. The sun and weather dries up the oil and the sand and gravel begin to fall apart. By sealing your driveway every other year you will keep it hydrated and form that chemical bond again.
Our product is not harmful once it is applied to your driveway. It may give off an oil smell but this is only for a few hours after it is applied. The only time it can be harmful is when it is being sprayed on the driveway and at that time our employees are using the appropriate PPE to protect themselves, so we recommend you stay inside while we work.
We will put two inch tape all around where the driveway meets interlock or concrete. Then we have a two man system where one holds a board on the tape while the other sprays up to the board. This protects all interlock or concrete and creates a perfect edge of sealer.

A 3-inch asphalt layer offers sufficient thickness to withstand the weight of vehicles and resist cracking or deformation caused by extreme weather conditions. It also provides an even and smooth surface that is resistant to wear and tear, making it ideal for high-traffic areas.
